Hanin Abed-alGhanni

Born into a poor family, she was affected by meningitis after the birth immidiately. She is spastic quadriplegia with severe mental retardation and speech and vision problem. Admitted to the JMF at 1/12/2003 and according to physical therapy assessment she was suffering from

• Severe spasity in both upper and lower limbs
• Very poor head control and inability to sit and roll or stand
• Shortening in some muscles of both lower and upper limbs
So the child took intensive physical therapy by using different types of exercises such as
• Balance exercises in sitting position
• Stretching and range of motion exercises to lengthening the contracted muscles and maintain the joint
• Weight bearing exercises for both upper and lower limbs to reduce spastic
• The use of standing frame

After several sessions of physical therapy the therapist can gain obvious progress
The child now can sit with minimal support according to sitting balance and head control improvement. The pasticity is reduced as a result of intensive physical therapy
We can prevent the complications of the paralysis like joint calcification and fixed contractors, osteoporosis, joint dislocations

Hanin learns and trains at Aya Center for special needs education since two years ago. JMF contributes towards Hanin’s fees, as well as providing  Physical and occupational therapy at JMF center. And she is in continuous improvement.
